Tormod Haugen
Literature dissemination - 10-13 years
A literature dissemination project that wants to open up, actualize, make visible the rich authorship of the late author Tormod Haugen. The project is located in the borderland between literature and performing arts, and like Tormod Haugen's books, it moves between fact and fiction, between dream and reality. The framework will be the classroom or the school library, and Haugen's literature will be disseminated and staged by actress Karen Tømte. We meet a fictional author who is working on a biography of the late author Tormod Haugen. She is driven by a close and personal commitment to his life story and literary universe. The author has been of great importance in the life of the cinema. She was born the year Haugen's most famous book The Day That Disappeared came out, she learned to read the year he received the H.C. Andersen Prize and she lost her own father the same year that Tormod Haugen died. She tries her best to "write" this biography in front of the class, but is still in doubt about what to include. She imagines between different stories, different novels and characters, and even disappears "into them" - the fiction is brought to life. The communication will mainly focus on the books: The Day That Disappeared, The Story of Merkel, The White Castle, The Tsar's Jewels and possibly Synnadrøm and The Night Birds.
