The youth novel is about what happens when you die young and about the events of life in a teenage age where there are many thoughts and feelings at once. It is also about love, difficult choices and that there is a lot to learn before you grow up. Brock Johansen writes that life does not always turn out the way one has intended and reflects on words such as "never" and what they mean. She will also open up for discussion on topics such as death, the great grief, and that not everyone experiences growing up. She will travel around schools to talk to students about the structure of this novel and open up for reflection on the themes that recur in the book. She thus wants to open up for a deeper way of thinking among young people.
