Documentary theatre - 13-20 years
A documentary performance for young people and adults about the growing child poverty in Norway. The performance is based on an adaptation of author Kari Saanum's research material for a writing project on child poverty in Norway. The text material is based on interviews with three young people who have grown up in poor families, a NAV employee, and a survey among students from a high school in Oslo West. More than 92,000 children and young people in Norway grow up in a poor family. What does it do to you to grow up in poverty in one of the richest countries in the world? How does it affect your life, your dreams?
The performance is supported by Kavlifondet, Stiftelsen Fritt Ord, Norsk Skuespillersenter, Bydel Sagene, Sagene Samfunnshus, Seanse - Senter for kunstproduksjon, and Nordic Black Theater.
Many thanks to social scientist Karin Gustavsen, actress Evelyn R. Osazuwa, and everyone who has shared stories, reflections, contacts and knowledge.
