Rap lyrics - 13-15 years

"A Norwegian does not like to be unarmed, quite rightly he does not like to ax in the church door, but he still asks for the sword under the cloak: the word," writes Olav H. Hauge in the diary, November 2, 1951. This day he has received the first edition of his own collection of poems, Under bergfallet. The performance "A Norwegian does not like to be unarmed" dives into the diversity of what poetry can be. Per Olav Hoff Mydske and André Jarnvig Jensen are pioneers in the Norwegian-language rap environment. They are particularly central in the rapbattle environment, where the performers compete in surrendering themselves and others through preparing and improvising text, form and rhythm. Only by participating do they prepare themselves for chopping. The doubt in surrendering oneself is something young people, rappers and famous poets have in common. By using rap, poems and cartoons, the performers and students explore together what poetry can say about those who have written it, and perhaps about themselves. The aim of this production is to present the lyrics rougher, harder and closer to the experience than what the audience is used to.
