Imaginary needs aim to make young people aware of the actual influence the media has on them as an individual. Become aware of the connection between purchasing behavior and the consequences this can have for the environment, by drawing parallels to overconsumption, garbage challenges, country of production, shipping method, manufacturers and production materials. Issues surrounding the production of clothing in developing countries, and the case of child labor in this industry. Should clothes be cheap and produced by cheap labor, or can they be produced in industrialized countries? Are we willing to pay more, and maybe buy less clothes? The workshop is based on a lecture and five visual art photographs, which are staged and theatrical photographs based on the statement: Consumption is driven by imagined needs. Through dialogue that asks questions related to society and the world we live in, the goal is to get students to discuss and reflect on various aspects of reuse, over-consumption, actual needs versus imagined needs.
