Strawberry cake shows the work on the script for a performance about Hannah's experience of her parents' divorce. The parents' break-up is developing over a long period of time, and Hannah talks about some incidents in this process. It is about dark feelings such as hurt, fear, anger, sadness and absurdities, and the text uncompromisingly takes the child's perspective. Hannah dreams away when things get difficult. She loves strawberries and ponders life as a strawberry. Maybe it would have been easier? This escape from reality gives room to play with absurd elements, and the work includes looking at how scenic concepts affect, challenge and enrich the text and the whole.
