Karoline Isaksen

Puppet theatre - 0-7 years

Insects do an incredible job despite being tiny. This is something Isaksen wants children to wonder about. Insects are small creatures that we are taught to fear by adults who scream and trample on every spider seeking shelter indoors. Children are interested in insects and study them with great curiosity, but do not learn to treat them with respect and as something to take care of. Insects have an intrinsic value, and Isaksen will show this through a puppet show where she only uses bees, bumblebees, spiders and larvae to tell a silent story about insects' activities with simple sounds from nature that she makes with her own voice. She uses humor, shape, size, movement and pattern to show the roles of the insects, to tell the children that they are all important. Isaksen hopes to help children develop a selfless love for nature.
