SMALL ARTS FESTIVAL 2027

SEPTEMBER 2027, OSLO

The Small Art Festival is an international festival of art for children aged 0–6.

About the festival

The Small Arts Festival brings together performances, art workshops and professional meeting places in collaboration with central cultural institutions in Oslo. The festival facilitates artistic meetings between professional artists and the youngest children (0-6 years), and presents performing arts developed specifically for children of kindergarten age. High-quality national and international productions are shown here, while creating space for reflection and professional development within the field of art for young children through seminars and meeting places.

Planning the Small Arts Festival 2027 is underway, and continues its commitment to working on program development, partnerships and financing to ensure a good and comprehensive implementation. By holding the festival in Oslo, continuity and long term development of the field with good partners are strengthened.

In 2024, we collaborated with the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, Dansens Hus, the National Museum and Vega Scene on a festival that provided art, play and learning experiences. The experiences show a strong commitment to art for the very youngest, both from kindergartens, artists, students, professional environments and overall:

  • 1603 participants (690 adults and 913 children).
  • 9 productions (both national and international)
  • 35 screenings (distributed across 6 stages)
  • 8 art workshops
  • 2 professional seminars (Seanse and Danses Hus)
  • 1 Nordic research network meeting (BLÆK)
