Curtain
Performing arts, contemporary dance - 16 years +
In this preliminary project, choreographer Brita Grov is attentive with exploring the possibilities, limitations and function of curtains in relation to dancers and choreography. The curtains consist of different fabrics and materials that can be both draperies and curtains. Glossy and shiny, transparent, heavy and light, they fill the stage from the ceiling down. Both light and shadows affect the choreographic material that is created in collaboration with the dancers. Inspiration is taken from Greg Haine's piano piece "The Spin" and is tried out together with improvised movement structures. Repetition and small changes in the choreography take place behind, in front of and between the curtains and with lighting design that is explored at the same time. They ask: Can we use the curtains to say something about who I and we are?
